President of the Russian Federation Tatarstan Republic Rüstem Minnihanov had promised to invest in Turkey's first and only chemistry specialized OIZ, GEBKİM, which he visited with the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank. A preliminary protocol agreement was signed between the petrochemical giant Tatneft and GEBKİM for the petrochemical product project investment. With the petrochemical product to be produced for the first time in Turkey at GEBKİM, raw material dependency will be reduced. Thus, it is aimed to prevent imports of 100 million dollars.
A preliminary protocol agreement was signed for the petrochemical product project between GEBKİM, Turkey's first and only chemical specialized OIZ, and Tatneft, which is shown as one of Russia's largest petro-chemical producers. President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustem Minnihanov, who visited GEBKİM on Wednesday, June 23, talked about the logistics location and opportunities of GEBKİM and promised to invest.
PRELIMINARY AGREEMENT SIGNED
Vefa İbrahim Araç, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kocaeli-Gebze Chemistry Specialized OSB (GEBKİM), and Nail Maganov, General Manager of Tatneft, met at GEBKİM under the chairmanship of Vice President Fuat Oktay and President of the Russian Federation Tatarstan Republic Rüstem Minnihanov, on Thursday, 24 June. signed a preliminary protocol agreement for the investment that will realize the production of the product. Wishing that the agreement would be beneficial for all parties, GEBKİM OSB Chairman Vefa İbrahim Araci said, "Tatneft, with its deep-rooted history, weight and knowledge in the petrochemical industry, will add strength to the power of GEBKIM and the Turkish industry."
“CHOOSING GEBKİM IS NOT A coincidence”
Speaking about the preliminary protocol agreement they signed with Tatneft, GEBKİM OIZ Chairman Vefa İbrahim Araci said, “As Turkey's first and only chemistry specialized OIZ, we host strong chemical manufacturers in their field. Last year, GEBKİM companies exported 600 million dollars worth of exports. GEBKİM gathers chemical manufacturers together to form an ecosystem that feeds on each other and eliminates the logistics problem. We will be an important production base for Tatneft with our location and our ecosystem that gathers chemical manufacturers in a single address.”

Mentioning the importance of producing malelic anhydride in Turkey, GEBKİM OSB Chairman Vefa İbrahim Araç said, “It is an important raw material and by-product in petrochemical product and chemical industry. The petrochemical product, which has not been produced in Turkey before, will be put into use for the first time at the Tatneft facilities to be established in GEBKİM. Thus, dependence on foreign raw materials will decrease. We aim to prevent imports of 100 million dollars with the production of petrochemical products in Turkey. With the production of this product in Turkey, Turkey's exports will be strengthened. “Competitive power will increase in foreign markets,” he said.
RAW MATERIALS OF THE PRODUCTS WE USE IN DAILY LIFE
The petrochemical product, which Tatneft plans to produce by signing a preliminary agreement with GEBKİM, Turkey's first and only chemistry specialized OIZ, is one of the very important raw material inputs of unsaturated polyester resin, which we use in many areas of our lives. The petrochemical product is also involved in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, coatings, agricultural products, surfactants and plastics additives, and is used in the manufacture of engine lubricants, fuel additives, industrial resins.
