The 2020-21 season started on September 1, 2020, and the export of seedless raisins reached 8 countries in 93 months and totaled 332 million dollars.
Dried apricots entered the last quarter in a 1-month period between August 2020, 29 and May 2021, 9, and a total foreign currency income of $ 78 million was obtained with an acceleration of 13,7 percent in return for a total of 258 thousand tons of dried apricots.
In the period between 30 September 2020 and 29 May 2021, Turkey exported 57 thousand 143 tons of dried figs, increasing its exports by 2 percent to 207 million dollars.
Exported for 2019 thousand 20 dollars in the 2-779 season, all dried apricots found buyers in 2020 countries for 21 thousand 114 dollars in the 3-470 period.
In the 2020-21 season, the average export price of all dried figs sent to 104 countries increased from 4 thousand 52 dollars to 4 thousand 261 dollars.
Turkey is a key supplier of healthy food
Birol Celep, President of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters' Association, said that dried figs, dried apricots and raisins, which constitute the lion's share of $ 2020 billion in dried fruit exports in 1,4, reached $ 1 million, while two-thirds of the season are behind.
“The global organic food and beverage market is expected to reach $ 2026 billion by 620, so this consumption trend will continue to grow stronger in the upcoming period. Turkey, which is by far the world leader in dried figs, raisins and dried apricots, is a key supplier in healthy food. We have made our name in the first place in the world by branding with the image of healthy food with the right production techniques in the chain from the field to the table and with a planned and sustainable policy that prioritizes food safety. We export to 162 different countries around the world. The export of raisins, 95 percent of which we realize from our region, reached 8 million dollars in 332 months. We exported $ 80 million to European countries, our main trade partner, with a share of 273 percent. The UK ranks first with $ 96 million. "We have a target of 450 million dollars for raisins at the end of the season."
USA ranks first in dried apricots and Germany first in dried figs
Stating that dried apricot exports increased by 13,7 percent and reached 258 million dollars, Celep said, “Our traditional markets have increased by 27 percent to the USA and up to 40 percent to European countries. Our exports rose 49 percent to the Netherlands, 41 percent to Italy and 43 percent to Poland. The UK is 29 percent, Egypt 19 percent, UAE 16 percent, Brazil 8 percent. We aim to reach 300 million dollars in dried apricot exports. Germany maintains its first place in dried fig exports with an increase of 4 percent and $ 30 million. Our exports to the Netherlands, Finland and Austria increased by 40 percent. We increased our dried fig exports to the USA by 8 percent to 28 million dollars. Egypt is where we are up 32 percent and the UK 25 percent. "We will reach 207 million dollars in dried figs, which is 250 million dollars until the current period, and reach 1 billion dollars in exports of seedless raisins, dried apricots and dried figs."
43 percent to Japan, 44 percent to India, 19 percent to China
Pointing out that Asia's weight in dried fruit exports increased from the beginning of the season until this time, Celep said, “We experienced significant increases in raisins to Philippines, South Korea, India, Pakistan and Singapore. We increased our exports of dried apricots to Asian and Oceania countries by 19 percent. Australia is 3 percent, China 19 percent, India and Hong Kong 44 percent, Japan 43 percent. In dried figs, Japan ranks first with an increase of 7 percent with $ 6 million. In addition, we progressed 25 percent in South Korea, 44 percent in Malaysia, 28 percent in New Zealand and 19 percent in Singapore. Turkey is one of the largest suppliers of organic food. Our country is known as a reliable exporter in all its products in the world. We are working to maintain this title. The positive picture in our target markets, which we prioritize, is an indication that we have come a long way ”.
