Expected to increase ferry trips
Pointing out that wireless internet can be used on all ferries as of now, Şehir Hatları AŞ General Manager Sinem Dedetaş said, “It is a service provided by our IMM Department of Information Technologies on our ferries. Installation started in February. Currently, wireless internet is available on all our ferries," he said.
Expressing that they expect the WI-Fi service to increase the number of ferry trips, Dedetaş said the following regarding the application:
“The ferry is a means of transportation; but with this service, people will not be cut off from life while reaching from one place to another. They will be able to meet their daily needs. Some use the internet for pleasure, some to meet their needs. There are also those who use it for business. On the one hand, it is extremely important for security. Studies show that safety is paramount, especially when women use public transport. Having continuous internet will support this perception of security. At the same time, we expect this service to increase ferry journeys.”
