İBB Information Processing Department started to provide free İBB Wi-Fi service on the ferries of Şehir Hatları AŞ. The practice, which was started on five ferries in February, was implemented in all 25 ferries on the voyage. Sinem Dedetaş, General Manager of Şehir Hatları AŞ, stated that Istanbul residents can travel by ferry without breaking away from daily life, and said that they expect this service to increase the number of trips.

Adding new lines to its schedule, Şehir Hatları AŞ had placed children's playgrounds on the ferries in order to popularize sea travel. The new application was the free IBB Wi-Fi service offered by the IMM Department of Information Technologies on ferries.

The free Ibb Wi-Fi service, which was first launched on five ferries in February, started to be provided on all 25 ferries on the voyage as of May. Pointing out that wireless internet can be used on all ferries as of now, Şehir Hatları AŞ General Manager Sinem Dedetaş said, “It is a service provided by our IMM Department of Information Technologies on our ferries. Installation started in February. Currently, wireless internet is available on all our ferries," he said.

Expressing that they expect the WI-Fi service to increase the number of ferry trips, Dedetaş said the following regarding the application:

“The ferry is a means of transportation; but with this service, people will not be cut off from life while reaching from one place to another. They will be able to meet their daily needs. Some use the internet for pleasure, some to meet their needs. There are also those who use it for business. On the one hand, it is extremely important for security. Studies show that safety is paramount, especially when women use public transport. Having continuous internet will support this perception of security. At the same time, we expect this service to increase ferry journeys.”
