Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, trying to promote the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, one of Turkey's most valuable wetlands, offered zero emission electric vehicles to the use of visitors.

The Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, awaits its visitors. In the delta, where 420 of the 340 bird species seen in Turkey are located, which includes many riches, it is possible to travel with battery-operated vehicles and bicycles. The Metropolitan Municipality, which attaches great importance to the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which is closed to vehicle traffic, ensures the continuation of natural life with its environmental projects. The Metropolitan Municipality, which purchased battery powered vehicles for its visitors within the scope of the project carried out jointly with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, has provided an exemplary service throughout Turkey. In the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which respects wildlife, is far from noise and air pollution, and attaches importance to zero waste, visitors can do sports on the walking paths within the protected area, and walk around with bicycles or electric vehicles.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which puts 18 battery-powered vehicles for 5 people with zero emissions at the service of the visitors, increased the number of existing bicycles by renewing them. Expressing that the project will make an important contribution in terms of UNESCO candidacy, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir thanked the Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum and AK Party Environment, City and Culture President and Deputy Chairman of the Samsun Deputy Çiğdem Karaaslan, who contributed to the realization of the project.

Emphasizing that the Kızılırmak Bird Sanctuary has an important mission in the promotion and tourism of Samsun, President Mustafa Demir said, “We prohibited motor vehicles with high emissions and noise from entering the delta. Because in our delta, where natural, biological and ecological life is dominant, the animals that sustain wildlife were adversely affected and even damaged. We got ahead of that. We give bikes to people who want to visit so they can take a ride. They can wander around as they please, see wild animals, take pictures, and have exciting moments. We bought 5 battery powered vehicles with the project we carried out jointly with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. We organize sightseeing tours with guides in our vehicles that can carry 18 people. Apart from the natural area, our visitor centers are waiting for those who want to see the unique beauties. As the municipality administration, we will continue to serve our city with a quality that will set an example for our country.”
