With AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, games will now run much more efficiently in high quality and resolution.

AMD announced that AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), a cutting-edge image enhancement solution, is available to users. AMD FSR is an open source, cross-platform technology designed to increase frame rates and deliver high quality and resolution gaming experiences. More than 40 game developers have announced that they will add FSR support to games and game engines. Currently, seven games include FSR support, including 22 Racing Series, Anno 1800, Evil Genius 2, Godfall, Kingshunt, Terminator: Resistance, and The Riftbreaker. Many games, including DOTA 2, Far Cry 6 and Resident Evil Village, are expected to add FSR support by the end of the year.

Offering extensive support for more than 100 AMD processors and GPUs, FSR offers 4 times higher performance in 2.4K resolution "Performance" mode compared to native resolution in selected games. Spatial resolution upscaling technology analyzes the characteristics of the source image with an advanced edge rendering algorithm and reproduces it at a higher resolution, then increases sharpness to improve overlay details. The result is an image with super high quality edges and distinctive pixel detail.

AMD FSR offers four quality settings, Ultra Quality, Quality, Balanced, and Performance, to allow gamers to adjust the balance between image quality and performance. This allows gamers to enjoy fluid gameplay in the most demanding situations, including ray tracing. In Ultra Quality mode, FSR image quality is virtually indistinguishable from native resolution.

A scalable open source solution

It is supported by AMD FSR, DirectX 11, 12 and Vulkan APIs, which can be easily integrated into new and old games. Supporting many APUs and graphics hardware, FSR is optimized for AMD Radeon™ RX 5000 and Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards and mobile graphics processing units, as well as AMD Radeon RX 500 series, Radeon RX 480/470/460, Radeon RX Vega series graphics cards, It is also supported on all AMD Ryzen Processors with Radeon graphics and various competing graphics products.

AMD FSR is expected to be available to game developers via AMD GPUOpen in mid-July.

Studio and game support

AMD FSR was developed in close collaboration with leading studios and game developers. More than 40 game developers have pledged to add and support FSR to major games and game engines. Many more are expected to add FSR to their games.
