The Turkish Natural Language Processing Competition, organized by the Informatics Valley as part of the TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, offers the opportunity to develop projects for those with technological and innovative ideas. The competition, organized online by Bilişim Vadisi with the partnership of Turkey Open Source Platform, in order to raise awareness about the development of the open source ecosystem in our country, contributes to the development of technology in strategic sectors.

Applications for the competition, where associate, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students studying at universities, as well as graduates without age limit and young people under the age of 18 can participate individually or as a team, together with their advisors, can be submitted until July 5. Contestants are required to upload their presentations or videos describing themselves, their teammates and project ideas within the scope of their projects until 20 August during the application process. After the pre-evaluation process of the mentors, the online competition process will continue between 14 July and 20 August.

Everyone with successful, qualified and innovative ideas can apply for the competition, and it contributes to the preparation of user-friendly and high-performance libraries and data sets, especially for the processing of Turkish texts. Within the scope of the competition, especially Turkish text editing, question and answer operations over defined data, natural language understanding and production, Contextual Understanding Technology in Turkish Natural Language Processing Competition and Natural Language Processing on Ottoman Turkish will be discussed.

The competition, which also includes Machine Translation for Turkish, has 12 different topics, including Development of Natural Language Processing Libraries and Creating Datasets, Character Recognition Technologies, Speech Recognition and Synthesis Technologies. During the competition, participants are expected to be active in qualified subjects such as data generation, using open source tools, developing data sets and marking unsigned data.

In the final of the Turkish Natural Language Processing Contest, which aims to use Turkish more efficiently in the digital world, prizes of 20.000 TL, 15.000 TL for the second, and 10.000 TL for the third await the winner. The winners in the final of the competition will receive their awards at TEKNOFEST, which will be held at Istanbul Atatürk Airport on September 21-26, 2021.
