A freight train derailed near the town of San Isidro Mazatepec in Tala, Mexico, in the state of Jalisco. As a result of the derailment of the train, which damaged 4 houses in the vicinity, 1 person died and 3 people were injured.

In the statement made by the Jalisco State Civil Defense and Fire Department (UEPCBJ), it was stated that the accident occurred around 06:00 local time, and 108 cars of a freight train with 12 cars carrying canola seeds derailed.

Fire Chief Filiberto Gonzlez said in a statement that derailed wagons damaged 4 houses, 2 of which were completely destroyed. Gonzalez announced that 3 people were injured according to the first determinations, and 1 elderly citizen died in his sleep as a result of the collapse of the roof of the farmhouse.

After the crime scene investigation, Gonzales stated that with the approval of the prosecutor's office, the debris removal works of the farmhouse, whose roof collapsed, will begin, and that the lifeless body of the old man who lost his life will be removed from the rubble. Gonzales added that the derailed wagons will be removed by Ferromex (Mexican Railways Administration) personnel.
