IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlugave the good news to the people of Istanbul that the internet can be used in the subways. The decision, which was passed by the IMM Assembly Commission on June 16, will begin to be implemented as soon as possible.

The application of GSM and internet connection interruption in subways, which started in 2005 with security concerns around the world, continued in Turkey while it was abolished all over the world. Internet is one of the basic needs of our age. Especially during the pandemic period, this need has increased after applications such as distance education and working from home.

According to TUIK data, the rate of internet usage among individuals aged 2020-16 in Turkey in 74 increased by 3,7 points compared to the previous year and reached 79,0 percent. According to the results of the 3 Passenger Satisfaction Survey of Metro Istanbul, Turkey's largest urban rail system operator with a daily passenger capacity of over 2020 million, 86% of passengers want free use of the internet in subways.
