Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) has taken new decisions regarding the use, control and authorization principles of electric "scooters", one of the new generation transportation vehicles. According to this; Those who receive authorization certificates for electric scooters, which are allowed at the rate of 3/1 of the population of the district, must apply to the Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department between 21 June and 16 July 2021 with their petitions. The Metropolitan Municipality, which announced for the application of companies, will allow the use of a total of 25 thousand 9 "scooters" in all 594 districts.
The new generation electric scooter, which is frequently used in European countries and whose use is increasing day by day due to the reduction of carbon emissions with the use of motor vehicles, is also becoming widespread in Başkent.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality also authorized the use of electric scooters throughout the city in line with the regulation and the decision of the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) published in the Official Gazette on April 14, 2021. With the announcement published by the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation, the application calendar for companies was announced.
REQUESTS FROM COMPANIES WILL BE COLLECTED
According to the decision taken within the scope of the "Electric Scooter Regulation", companies that have received an authorization certificate from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure must apply to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department with authorization certificate and petitions, indicating the number of "scooters" to be used in the districts between 21 June and 16 July.
The Transportation Department will evaluate the requests from the companies within 60 days. After the completion of this period, UKOME will meet again and announce the list of authorized companies.
A TOTAL OF 25 “SCOOTERS” CAN WORK IN ALL 9 DISTRICTS
In order to minimize the negative effects that may occur due to the possibility of high number of “scooters” in some districts, the number of “scooters” at the rate of 3/1 of the district population will be allowed in the first place. According to the UKOME decision, the distribution of 9 thousand 594 scooters that can work in 25 districts was determined as follows:

UNDER 15 YEARS OLD CANNOT USE
In the Capital, where children under the age of 15 cannot drive and the maximum speed will be 25 kilometers, it will be possible to park only in areas permitted by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, and it will not be possible to go out of the district borders with a “scooter”.
Electric scooters, which attract attention with their comfortable use and have environmental features, can only be used on bicycles and vehicle roads, and their use on the pavement will be prohibited. At the end of the journey, the user will be required to issue an invoice stating the usage period, usage amount, time and date. Companies will inform users in adverse weather conditions, and if necessary, they will close the scooter, which is an alternative means of transportation.
