UITP Turkey Conference was held on 26-28 May 2021 under the main sponsorship of Optibus, which provides efficiency, cost savings, strategic planning and optimization technology, solutions and services in public transportation in more than 500 cities around the world.
In the first part of the conference, which was held digitally for 3 days, it was examined in detail how we can use public transportation services more effectively with the theme of “Optimization for efficient public transportation services”. In this episode, there was a section on how optimizing public transport services in the "New Normal" atmosphere after the "COVID-1,5 Pandemic", which has affected the whole world for 19 years, can reduce the costs of public transport enterprises and increase the number of passengers using public transport. METU City and Regional Planning lecturer Prof. Dr. In this session, chaired by Ela Babalık, Optibus Turkey Strategy Consultant Ejder Ormancı touched upon the change and transformation in the infrastructures of companies that attach the necessary importance to technology, while at the same time emphasizing the importance of looking at issues with an approach that facilitates human life.
In the second part of the conference, the topic of "Clean and energy efficient vehicles in sustainable urban transport", which has been closely followed by the sector in recent years, was discussed by Dr. Göktuğ Kara's sustainable urban mobility plans were discussed in detail under the topics of sustainable transportation policies of the EU and electric, hydrogen-fueled public transportation vehicles. The topics of how to make the vehicles used in public transportation more environmentally friendly and healthier, and how the sector can be transformed into a better future were discussed in detail.
In the last part of the conference, the topic of “the future of urban transportation after the Covid-19 Pandemic” was discussed under the chairmanship of the session, UITP Membership, Marketing and Services, Senior Director, Kaan YILDIZGÖZ, with the participation of top managers of Turkey's largest public transportation companies. In this last session, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality - Metro Istanbul General Manager Özgür Soy, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality - İzmir Metro General Manager Sönmez Alev, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality - Eshot General Manager Erhan Bey, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality - Burulaş General Manager Mehmet Kürşat Çapar and Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality - Feyzullah Gündoğdu, Kayseri Transportation General Manager and UITP Head of the Institutionalization of Individual Businesses Committee, discussed the challenges, best practices and solutions that will shape the future of urban transportation after the pandemic.
The digital conference organized by covering all public transport stakeholders across the industry; It brought together public transport administrations, businesses, policy makers, science institutes and industry organizations, as well as service providers at this conference.
