Bluedot, one of the "Tech Istanbul" platform initiatives implemented by the Smart City Directorate of the IMM Department of Information Processing, received its first investment. Ford Otosan, the Driventure company, which will serve as a venture capital company, quickly made its first investment in Bluedot, one of the startups supported by IMM. Another “Tech Istanbul” initiative on the way of investment; “Duckt”, which enables the integration of electric scooters into urban transportation, is among the initiatives that IMM is proud of with its successful story. İBB Subsidiary İSPARK hosts the implementation of these projects.

TechIstanbul, the innovation platform established by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and YGA, and which supports initiatives opening up to the world from Istanbul, was launched in 2020. Tech Istanbul ensures that startups that develop technological and innovative solutions to Istanbul's urban problems work closely with IMM; Aiming to support the spread of positive technologies from Istanbul to the world, it received applications from startups. Six of the 12 startups selected after discussions with senior management will work closely with IMM and its subsidiaries for three months. He conducted field tests of enterprises in the fields of transportation, environment and energy.

WORK CONTINUES AT ISPARK

Bluedot, which is one of the 6 startups and still continues to work with İSPARK, was the first startup to receive investment from the Driventure company founded by Ford Otosan. Bluedot, which enables electric car users to access the charging unit, perform reservation and payment transactions with the mobile application, displays the units owned by the charging unit owners on the map. Thus, it is also possible to generate income with the shared income model.

Bluedot co-founder Ferhat Babacan, who said that they want to go further by working harder for the project with the investment they received, said, “Bluedot's young, dynamic and creative team set out to increase the connection of cities with electric cars and to create more sustainable cities. While using this investment from Ford, one of Turkey's most valuable companies, to develop products and teams, we will also create a strategic partnership with Ford.” said.

TESTED IN THE PARKING PARK IN CİHANGİR

CBluedot technology was tested in the ihangir multi-storey car park and delivered to the public. With the support of IMM, Bluedot continues to work on improving its business idea and optimizing its technology.

AWARD FROM THE OSCAR OF DESIGN TO THE DUCKT INITIATIVE

Another initiative that matches ISPARK on the Tech Istanbul platform is Duckt, which facilitates the integration of electric scooters into transportation solutions in cities and develops infrastructure solutions. Duckt, which provides parking, safe locking and charging services to the entire scooter market, regardless of brand and model, with its “plug-and-play” adapter and stations, has also made improvements on electric bicycles with the pilot application in Maltepe together with ISPARK.

CHARGING STATIONS WILL BE MANAGED UNDER ONE ROOF

ISPARK General Manager Murat Çakır stated that they have started to establish charging stations for electric vehicles in the parking lots in order to spread the new generation environmentally friendly vehicles, and said, “Within the scope of the Tech Istanbul project, we are working to ensure that all electric vehicle charging station points planned to be established within the IMM are processed into navigation systems and managed under a single roof. We are collaborating with Duckt, which offers a different and new solution in the field of micromobility, and Bluedot, the application where electric vehicle charging stations can be viewed.”

İBB Smart City Manager Dr. Burcu Özdemir cited successful initiatives emerging from the Tech Istanbul platform as an example, emphasizing that Istanbul and Turkey need innovative business ideas and young minds in order to further their vision.
