Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum stated that 8 thousand 3 cubic meters of mucilage (sea saliva) was cleaned from the Sea of ​​Marmara in 288,2 days.

In a statement on its Twitter account, the institution gave information about the sea cleaning campaign launched on 8 June within the scope of the fight against mucilage in the Marmara Sea.

“In our mucilage removal campaign in the Marmara Sea, we carried a total of 15 cubic meters of mucilage, together with 613,7 cubic meters, to the sanitary landfills on June 3." Using his statements, the Authority stated that they continued the cleaning works on the eighth day of the mobilization in 288,2 regions.

At the end of 8 days, the institution is 850,2 cubic meters in Istanbul, 174,5 cubic meters in Kocaeli, 131,5 cubic meters in Bursa, 136 cubic meters in Tekirdağ, 338 cubic meters in Balıkesir, 271 cubic meters in Çanakkale, and Yalova. He stated that they sent 1387 cubic meters of mucilage to disposal with transportation equipment and waste transportation vehicles.

Emphasizing that they carry out intensive inspections along with mucilage cleaning works in the Sea of ​​Marmara, the Institution said:

“As of June 15, we have carried out a total of 3 thousand 219 inspections and imposed an administrative fine of 10 million 495 thousand liras on businesses that do not fulfill their legal obligations. We examine the wastewater samples taken during the inspections carried out by the teams affiliated to our Ministry and our authorized institutions, in our environmental laboratories 7/24. We are working together to make our Marmara Sea clean and blue.”
