Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “Our Filyos Port, whose construction was completed on the shores of Zonguldak, is a giant logistics center project that will be a new base in natural gas and trade by taking both the region and our country one step further in the field of logistics.”

Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the AK Party governments under his leadership, had the privilege of realizing our 150-year-old dream, Filyos Port project, which was even included in the 'General Production in Anatolia Report' prepared during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid. Filyos Port, located on the shores of Zonguldak, is a giant logistics center project that will take both the region and our country one step further in the field of logistics, beyond being just a port.” he said.

“It will be the new address of ships with a capacity of 25 million tons”

Stating that Filyos Port, which will be the most important sea gate of the Black Sea hinterland, will be one of the new centers of regional maritime trade, Karaismailoğlu said, “When Filyos Port comes into service, it will be the new address for large-tonnage ships with an annual container handling capacity of 25 million tons. Filyos Port will become the main export center not only for Zonguldak, but also for Karabük and Bartın, as well as the entire Western Black Sea and Central Anatolia.”

Filyos Port carries the burden of the entire region from the Black Sea; Noting that he will transport it to Russia, the Balkans and even the Scandinavian countries, Karaismailoğlu said, "As the transfer center of the combined transportation chain between Russia, the Balkans and the Middle East countries, it will carry the load of the entire region from the Black Sea to Russia, the Balkans and even the Scandinavian countries."

“13 ships of different sizes will be handled at the same time”

Minister Karaismailoğlu, who also conveyed the technical information about the capacity of Filyos Port, said, “Our Filyos Port has a 14-meter-deep dock with 70 dead-ton General Cargo ships and 8 thousand TEU Container ships, with a 19-meter-deep dock and 180 thousand dead-ton Dry Cargo ships. Pointing out that Filyos Port will undertake another important mission, Karaismailoğlu said: “After the discovery of natural gas, which made us happy as a nation, the area allocated to our port has been expanded for TPAO to benefit from Filyos Port and its back field. Logistic support required for natural gas works will be provided from our port. From the first day that Filyos Port was put into service, it will develop our region and make a great contribution to the economy and employment. Of course, it's not just about building the port. You need to establish the connection corridors of this port in the best way. With the Filyos Port and Filyos Industry Industrial Zone Joint Line Connection project, we will build 12 kilometers of railway and 4,5 kilometers of highway.”

“Filyos Port will be the locomotive in the development of the region”

Stating that Filyos Port should not be thought of as just a port, Karaismailoğlu said, “Within the framework of our Logistics Master Plan, which we have put into practice in order to make maximum use of our country's geopolitical position, Filyos Port will be one of the largest logistics bases. We believe that it will be a locomotive for the development of the region,'' he said.

Minister Karaismailoğlu; He explained his 2023 and 2053 export targets as follows: “We are making multi-faceted investments in every field in order to reduce global logistics costs, develop trade and increase competitiveness. In addition, we aim to generate an income of 2023 billion dollars in 5 and 2053 billion dollars in 214 from the transit pass through our country thanks to the transportation investments. I believe that we will achieve these goals with the transportation investments we have made and will continue to do.”
