İpekyolu Development Agency will bring the Barak Plain to life on the banks of the Euphrates River. With the Solar Power Plant (GES) to be established in the region, access to the water needed by the plain will be facilitated. Thanks to the GES, a thousand farmers who will have cheap electricity will irrigate. With the project to which İpekyolu Development Agency supported 20 and a half million TL, the 5 MW SPP tender will be held today. The environmentalist project, which is carried out within the scope of the Guided Project Support Program and is an exemplary model for rural development, will be completed in 18 months.
It will be easier
It will now be easier to carry water from the Euphrates to the Barak Plain, one of Gaziantep's most important agricultural areas. The electricity produced by the 5 MW SPP to be established in the Nizip district of Gaziantep will be used in agricultural irrigation.
TENDER TODAY
The Ministry of Industry and Technology and İpekyolu Development Agency are taking action to support rural development.
The project of Gaziantep Governorship Investment Monitoring and Coordination Department is supported by İpekyolu Development Agency at the rate of 100 percent. The entire project, with a budget of 20 and a half million TL, is covered by the agency. The tender for the 5 MW SPP will be held today.
COSTS ARE HIGH
Although the Barak Plain is on the banks of the Euphrates, it has irrigation problems due to its altitude. Waters are carried to the plain by means of pumping pumps. This increases energy costs significantly. Therefore, only 25 percent of the agricultural land in the region can be irrigated.
ECO-FRIENDLY PROJECT
The 5 MW SPP project, implemented for this purpose, will meet the electrical energy need for irrigation of a total of 35 decares of agricultural land in Nizip District. By using an environmentally friendly alternative energy source, energy costs will decrease. High yield and quality product will be obtained.
WILL INCREASE EMPLOYMENT
Approximately one thousand farmers who own land in the Barak Plain will benefit from the project. Farmers who grow peanuts, olives, barley, wheat, cotton, mint, corn, chickpeas, pomegranates, garlic and grapes will irrigate their lands with cheap electricity. It will also contribute to the increase of employment in agricultural production and the implementation of the rural development model.
