Steadfast Defender-2021 is a collective defense exercise based on NATO's Article 5. The aim of the exercise is to work together with NATO allies to deter potential enemies and demonstrate NATO's defensive capability. It will enhance Alliance security by maintaining NATO's broad interoperability and military capabilities.
Turkish Armed Forces troops arrive in Bulgaria
The 3rd Corps (HRF) Command (NRDC-TUR), which assumed the role of the NATO Response Force Land Component Command, and the 66th Mechanized Infantry Brigade Command, which took the role of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force Land Brigade, reached Romania. A total of 1356 personnel, 214 military vehicles, 39 trailers and 128 containers participated in the exercise.

Over 4 thousand military personnel from 2021 countries are participating in the Defender Europe 26 exercise, which consists of the merger of 30 different main exercises. In the second phase of the exercise, which is called the seizure of the initiative, Romanian Land Forces units will perform volatile defense in the Romanian operating area, the US European Land Forces units and in the operating areas of Romania and Bulgaria.
This phase of the exercise, which will establish a military hospital in Hungary and a Prisoner Collection Center in Albania, will be associated with the "Steadfast Defender 21" exercise. The members of the 24th Mechanized Infantry Brigade Command, who will participate in this phase from 9 May to 66 June, will be in Cincu, Romania on June 2-9. In addition, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania, Spain, Ukraine and England will take part in this phase of the exercise. The third phase of the exercise, which includes handling superiority, will start with the implementation of Article 5 of the NATO Treaty within the framework of the plan.
