The corona pandemic, which has shaken the whole world since March 2020, continues to deeply affect our economic and social life. During this period, we experienced health problems in our family and ourselves, unfortunately some of us lost their loved ones. On this occasion, I wish our patients urgent recovery and mercy to those who lost their lives.

Life has to go on in these difficult days. While there were contractions in transportation, especially in road and air transportation, which is at the center of all life, railway transportation came to the fore in ensuring the continuity of trade. We have already achieved a 2021 percent increase in domestic and international shipments in the first four months of 2020 compared to 20.

As TCDD Transportation General Directorate, which provides transportation services 7/24, 365 days, we continue to serve with our high-speed trains, Marmaray and Başkentray, and our domestic and international freight transportation, within the framework of Presidential Decisions.

It is certain that every difficult condition teaches human beings important lessons. In this difficult process we have experienced with the pandemic, we realized that being able to breathe freely, walk in the open air, have a coffee with friends, and come together with our loved ones at the festive table is our greatest wealth. We learned sharing, solidarity, and thinking about others.

We have understood the importance and beauty of our religious festivals, where our feelings such as goodness, helping people and sharing are exalted and peace and happiness increase in society.

We are actually very lucky to spend this holiday with our nuclear family in our homes in good health.

We all have a great duty and responsibility in order not to lose this chance and to start our normal life as soon as possible. Because it is stated that one of the reasons for the high course of the cases is that the virus mutates rapidly with the increase of circulation and the speed of transmission increases as it is the British mutant, the other is that 30 percent of the society does not obey the prohibitions by saying "I am bored, overwhelmed".

For this reason, we should not neglect to be vaccinated, to protect our social distance, to wear masks and to pay attention to hand hygiene while meticulously following the measures of our Ministry of Health.

I celebrate the Blessed Eid al-Fitr with my sincere feelings, wish it to bring good luck to our country, the Islamic world and all humanity, and offer my love.

HASAN PEZUK
General Director of TCDD Transportation
