Minister Koca first visited Governor Ersin Yazıcı in Antalya, where he came to attend the Regional Assessment Meeting. Making a statement to the press members after the visit, Koca stated that they will make an on-site examination and evaluate the surrounding provinces in their study in Antalya.

Expressing that they evaluated the latest situation of the pandemic in Antalya with Governor Yazıcı, Koca said, “Health investments have also been our other important agenda item. We had the opportunity to consult the situation in the provision of healthcare services in Antalya, the needs in the field of health, and the issues demanding support. Antalya has a very open potential in terms of health tourism. We discussed the different investments that we will need despite the investments that are completed and are being made, and we made the project evaluations ”.

Minister Koca Visited Kepez State Hospital Pediatric Service

Husband made examinations at Kepez State Hospital within the scope of the Antalya program. Husband visiting the Pediatric Service with children receiving treatment sohbet received information about their health status.

Husband also wished other patients and their relatives to get well soon.

After the visit, Koca moved on to the Regional Evaluation Meeting covering Antalya, Isparta and Burdur.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca made a statement to the journalists after the assessment meeting he held at the Antalya Provincial Health Directorate with the participation of Antalya, Isparta and Burdur health directors and field coordinators.

Vaccination Studies

In his statement, Koca explained that they consider and evaluate the measures and health activities of 3 provinces in all aspects and shared the following information:

He stated that in line with the delivery schedule planned in the vaccination program and that citizens who received the first dose of vaccine, they continue to vaccinate, keeping the second dose vaccine reserved until the day of administration.

Pointing out that a third vaccine has been approved for use in Turkey as of today, Koca stated that the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency has given the emergency use of the Sputnik V vaccine today.

Providing information about the BioNTech vaccine, Koca said, “The BioNTech vaccine will be delivered to our country as 30 million doses by the end of June. Similarly, the Sinovac vaccine will continue to be shipped as planned soon, with positive improvements in supply, ”he said.

The Rate of Fall in the Number of Cases Will Increase

Minister Koca, in line with the delivery schedule planned in our vaccination program, and we continue to vaccinate our citizens who have received the first dose of vaccine until the day of the second dose of vaccines. As of today, the use of a third vaccine has been approved in our country. Our Turkey Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency gave the emergency use approval of Sputnik vaccine today. 1 million doses of vaccine are expected to be delivered within 2 months and the first shipment is expected this month. Biontech vaccine will be delivered to our country as 3 million doses by the end of June.

The Sinovac vaccine will also continue to be shipped as planned soon. It is seen that the decision of our Scientific Committee to increase the application time between 2 doses to 6-8 weeks regarding the Biontech vaccine has been misunderstood. This decision was taken for scientific reasons. I explained that this situation was not affected by the first dose of vaccine and our citizens who made an appointment for their second dose. Our Scientific Committee has decided to extend the time between 2 doses of vaccine as an alternative method of administration. Along with the restrictions, there has been a significant decrease in the number of cases since the day it saw the peak. He said that the rate of decrease is expected to increase.

When Will Sputnik V Vaccine Be Used?

The contract was signed 2 days ago. Emergency use approval has been given today. In accordance with this contract, it is planned to receive 6 million doses of vaccine in a 50-month period. I would like to say that the first phase of these vaccines will come from next May. In the next 1 week-10 days, it will be clear how many vaccines will be available in May and June.

Have Mutation Virus Cases Increased in Turkey?

Mainly seen British variant. Apart from that, I stated that we saw the South African and Brazilian variants as well. I have stated that a variant known as the last Indian variant was seen in 5 cases. An increase in this number is currently out of the question. We know that contagiousness increases with the mutation, 70% with the British variant. For the Indian variant, I can say that we saw in our 5 cases, they did not have any serious problems, they were followed up. Since this variant is new, we are following it closely.

Current Status in Vaccine Supply

With the contract for the Sinovac vaccine, 100 million vaccines had to be received by the end of April in the early period. However, since the country produced especially wanted to use it for its own citizens, this amount of vaccine was not received as per the contract. I would like to say here that with the recent positive developments in supply, the shipment may start again in the coming days. We will clarify that there is no shipment in this sense in April, but that the dispatch will start with the positive developments regarding supply in May, and within 1 week-10 days we will inform the public about this. We have 6 million doses of vaccine as a total of Biontech and Sinovac vaccines at the moment, ready to be used. Nearly 23 million doses of vaccine were made. In addition, we have 6 million doses of vaccine readily available. Also, when I met again with Uğur Hoca yesterday, there will be 1 million more vaccine doses for May and 30 million doses of vaccine is not a problem for June, and Uğur Hoca is making an effort to increase this amount. It was a 30 million-dose agreement for Biontech as well, in the new period, we have increased this 30 million-dose agreement to 90 million doses. As of the summer, it is striving to get 90 million doses before the summer. In addition, we are determined that the Sputnik vaccine will come in May and later, with 6 million doses of vaccine in a 50-month period, a more intensive vaccine will come in June and at the point of vaccinating our citizens over 40 years old in June.

Case Rates by City

Making an assessment on the basis of provinces, Koca noted that the filming team consisting of 3 people in Antalya was 358, and the number of cases decreased by 35 percent in the last week. Stating that the bed occupancy rate in Antalya is 47,7 percent and the intensive care occupancy rate is 66,3 percent, Koca said that the vaccination rate of citizens over the age of 65 is 85 percent in Antalya.

Referring to the 127 filming teams in Burdur, Koca said, “In the last week, the number of cases decreased by 25 percent in Burdur, and our bed occupancy rate was 32,7 percent. Our intensive care occupancy rate is 52,9 percent. In Burdur, the vaccination rate of our citizens over the age of 65 is 83 percent. We continue to struggle with our 311 filming team in Isparta. The number of cases has decreased by 35 percent in the last week. Our bed occupancy rate is 53,1 percent, and our intensive care occupancy rate is 70,4 percent. Isparta stated that the rate of vaccination of our citizens over 65 years old is 84 percent.

Minister Fahrettin Koca also informed Antalya, Isparta and Burdur about the investments made in the field of health.
