The agreement signed by Emirates Far East Business Operations Senior Vice President of Business Operations Orhan Abbas, Huawei Middle East and Africa Vice President of Global Partnerships and Economic Development at the Arab Travel Market 2021 (ATM) in Dubai, the agreement is deepening strategic cooperation between Emirates and Huawei and the companies in China, respectively. and their mutual advantages in expanding their spheres of influence in the Middle East-Africa markets. Adnan Kazim, Emirates Commercial Affairs Director, and William Hu, Regional Business Development Director, Huawei's Economic Development Department, also attended the signing ceremony.

In addition to joint promotions designed for Emirates and Huawei to build brand awareness in each other's domestic market, the partnership also offers enhanced and engaging experiences for Huawei smartphone users as well as Huawei's official distribution platform and the top three in the world, with more than 530 million monthly users. It also includes the implementation of customer-focused efforts, including the possibility to book tickets and make travel plans from the Emirates application, which can be accessed through AppGallery, one of the global application marketplace. With the joint collaboration, Emirates will also provide support for Huawei's search engine Petal Search on smart devices in the MEA region.

For Emirates, being included in Huawei's ecosystem will enable the company to reach a wider audience and Huawei phone users, especially in the Chinese market, which is seen as one of the key strategic markets for Emirates worldwide.

The successful collaboration between the two brands, which was established at the beginning of 2020, is the basis of this move. As part of this collaboration, the Emirates application was launched on Huawei's smartphone devices via AppGallery, enabling users to access richer and more interesting functions with just one click. The collaboration was further expanded in September 2020 with improvements allowing for faster bookings and other personalized functionality that customize the mobile experience.

The signed Memorandum of Understanding includes further development of the Emirates Mobile App in AppGallery. To date, the Emirates app has been downloaded more than 1 million times via AppGallery. AppGallery also saw a 2,3 percent increase in the number of developers from last year, with 77 million currently registered. As of March 2021, the number of registered developers in the Middle East and Africa region has exceeded 70.000.

As part of its offering to consumers, the company is working to enhance the digital customer experience by leveraging cutting-edge technology and making the Emirates app a useful travel companion that ensures a smooth customer journey on the go. The Emirates app also offers easy access to Skywards account information, as well as many services and functions, from flight search and ticket booking to check-in, seat and meal selection. Innovative features of the Emirates app include pre-travel ice playlist creation and synchronization with the airplane seat, and Airport Wayfinder feature for directions at the Emirates headquarters at Dubai International Airport.
