Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality turned the complete closure process into an opportunity. Located in Büyükçekmece, the TÜYAP Overpass was removed because it consumed its life and caused traffic density by reducing the D100 highway from three to two in the direction of Istanbul.

TÜYAP Overpass was removed in 19 hours with the work carried out by the IMM Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department.

The carrier column of the TÜYAP Overpass reduces the road to two lanes at a distance of 500 meters and creates kilometers of traffic in the region with the density of people coming from the direction of Silivri at the weekend.

Third lane road works will be carried out in Büyükçekmece, which will breathe with the removal of the overpass. The traffic problem in the region will be solved with the work to be carried out at night at full closing time, without the residents of Istanbul being victimized.

A NEW OVERPASS WILL BE MADE

Taking into account the corrosion on the steel surface, after the third lane work instead of the removed overpass, a new overpass with escalators and elevators suitable for disabled citizens will be built 50-100 meters ahead of the same area.

Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün, who was very pleased with the arrangement, said, “The bridge had to be removed because the feet of the bridge prevented the construction of the third side roads. Removed. With the removal of the bridge, the traffic problem in Büyükçekmece center will be eliminated by making the side roads.

Seyfüllah Demirel, Head of the Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department, said, “The legs of this bridge were in a position to prevent the E-5 route from going from two lanes to three lanes. For this reason, we removed the bridge. "We will increase our way to three lanes in order to ensure uninterrupted traffic."
