The automotive industry, which has been the export champion of the Turkish economy on a sectoral basis for the last 15 years, showed a triple-digit increase in April exports due to the base effect.

According to the data of Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OİB), the Turkish automotive industry increased by 313 percent in April, exporting $ 2,5 billion. However, I congratulate all our companies that are working with all their might to increase exports despite all the difficulties brought by the pandemic for their outstanding performance.

Emphasizing that exports of the supply industry, passenger cars and motor vehicles for transporting goods increased by three digits in April, Baran Çelik said, “We believe that the impact of the pandemic will gradually decrease with the increase in our vaccination rate in parallel with the complete closure process and the markets will recover with the second quarter”.

Supply industry largest product group

In April, the Supply Industry made up the largest product group in the automotive sector with an increase of 208 percent with exports of 1 billion 54 million USD, while Passenger Car exports increased 582 percent to 899 million dollars, Goods Transport Motor Vehicles exports increased 652 percent to 300 million USD and Bus-Minibus-Midibus exports were also percent. It increased by 54 to 82 million USD.

Exports to Germany, the country with the highest exports in the Supply Industry, increased by 229 percent, while it was 422 percent to Italy, 454 percent to France, 225 percent to the USA, 231 percent to Russia and the United Kingdom, which are also important markets. 298, there was a 774 percent increase in exports to Spain.

Among the important markets in passenger cars, there was an increase of 730 percent to France, 337 percent to Italy, 2.251 percent to Spain, 421 percent to Germany, 6.020 percent to Poland and 705 percent to the United Kingdom. Germany, the largest market of the industry, increased $ 278 million with an increase of 419 percent, while exports to France increased by 551 percent to $ 309 million and to the United Kingdom with an increase of 880 percent to $ 220 million. In April, there was an increase of 305 percent for Italy, 1.059 percent for Spain, 480 percent for Belgium, 437 percent for Poland, 269 percent for the United States, 3.438 percent for Slovenia, and 284 percent for Russia.

Export increase to EU 370 percent

On country group basis, exports to the European Union countries increased by 370 percent to $ 1 billion 669 million, while the share of the EU in total exports was 68 percent. There was a 618 percent increase in exports to other European countries, 244 percent to the North American Free Trade Area and 168 percent to the Commonwealth of Independent States.
