The amount of boron, ceramic and marble transported by the Republic of Turkey Devlet Demiryolları Taşımacılık AŞ (TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ) in the January-April period increased significantly compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to the information obtained from the General Directorate of TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ, in contrast to the contraction in other areas of transportation during the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) epidemic, both the type of product and the amount transported increased in rail freight transportation.
In the January-April period of this year, there was an increase of 24.8 percent in domestic rail transportation and 19.8 percent in international transportation compared to the same period of the previous year, while the increase in the transportation of the mining and ceramics industry by rail was also remarkable.

Boron can be transported from Turkey to China by rail in just 2 weeks
On the other hand, important developments took place in the first 4 months of the year in the transportation of boron to China, one of the most important economies of the world, by rail.
A total of 31 wagons, 2021 tons of boron, 27 kilometers, of which 400 tons with 11 wagons on January 2021, 48, and 343 tons with 75 wagons on April 2, 743.
The export, which was carried out by sea between 2 continents, 2 seas and 5 countries, between 45 and 60 days, was completed in 15-20 days by rail.
Considering that boron is one of the most important items in Turkey's mining exports and the country maintains its leadership in the world boron industry with 2020 million tons of sales in 1,73, it is of great importance that Turkey, which meets 57 percent of the global demand, shifts its boron transport to railways.
Exports from many points of the country through Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and the Middle Corridor are expected to increase further in the coming years.
