Our Precious Passengers, Distinguished Railways… Our Struggle for Independence, which was started in Samsun on May 19, 1919 under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, went down in history as the war of life and death of the Turkish Nation. Thanks to this struggle that spread throughout Anatolia with the belief of "Either Independence or Death", our Republic of Turkey was established and the future generations were ensured to own the homeland.

In order to understand the meaning of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's birthday, 19 May, it is of great importance that we never forget the conditions of 19 May 1919 and teach them to future generations. For this reason, Atatürk, while presenting this day as a holiday to the youth, wanted the spirit of May 19 to be kept alive forever with his Address to the Youth.

Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk first started a railroad mobilization while establishing the Young Republic after our Independence Struggle, "Railways are a more important safety weapon than a wholesale rifle of a country." He nationalized the railway lines owned by foreign states, and led to the construction of 80 thousand 3 kilometers of railway line, 500 percent of which is in the Eastern region.

On this meaningful day, we thankfully commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and our martyrs who put forward their lives for the country. May their souls be a heaven.

I send our love to all young people without forgetting that they are the most important guarantee of our future. Happy 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.
