In the first operation carried out at different addresses in Istanbul by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce, 5 kilograms of heroin hidden in a microwave oven, and in the second operation, approximately 10 thousand electronic cigarettes and accessories were seized in a warehouse.

Another operation at Habur Customs Gate was the starting point of the drug operation carried out by the Istanbul Customs Guard, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate. 5 kg of heroin was caught hidden in a plasma TV found on a bus that was seen as suspicious and sought by the Customs Enforcement teams in Habur recently. The information and documents obtained after this capture were examined and it was determined that another party of drugs might have been sent to Istanbul.

Thereupon, the information and documents were shared by the Istanbul Customs Enforcement, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate. The suspect address was determined in the investigation conducted in Istanbul and the necessary preparations for the operation were completed. A microwave caught the attention of the teams during the search made at the address determined in the operation, which included narcotic detector dogs.

Some parts of the oven, to which the narcotic detector dog also reacted, was disassembled and opened. It was found that several packages were hidden in the compartment where the side walls of the oven were located. It was determined that the powder substance in these packages was heroin in the control performed with a drug test device. As a result of the operation, 5 kilos of heroin were seized.

10 thousand electronic cigarettes and their parts were seized

In another operation carried out by the personnel of the Istanbul Customs Protection, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, this time, electronic cigarette smugglers were at the target. The Customs Enforcement teams, who received notice that an address was used as a warehouse in the city and that many electronic cigarettes and accessories were stored at this address, took the address under surveillance.

The operation decision was taken after accessing information and findings that would confirm the notice. In the operation, approximately 10 thousand products, including electronic cigarette devices, spare parts for these devices and many electronic cigarette tobacco, were seized at the address sought.

It was determined that the market value of drugs and commercial goods seized as a result of two operations was 3 million lira. The judicial investigation against those responsible is continuing.
