Teşvikiye Mosque was opened to worship with the Friday prayer led by the President of Religious Affairs, Ali Erbaş, following the completion of the restoration works initiated three years ago by the General Directorate of Foundations.

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, in his opening speech, stated that the restoration work was carried out by the General Directorate of Foundations. Stating that the mosque has been completely overhauled with both the landscaping and the works carried out inside and outside, Minister Ersoy stated that approximately 21 million liras were spent in this context.

Noting that they managed to raise the mosque for the first Friday prayers in Ramadan, Minister Ersoy said, “I say good luck. Our very old mosque. The first years were 1794-1795 during the reign of Sultan Selim III. It was rebuilt by Sultan Abdülmecid in 3 because it was damaged later. Then, of course, it goes through several restorations and renovations. It was very worn out. That is why it was restored 1855 years ago in 3. It has been restored in an original way with a three-year work. " said.

Wishing the congregation to be blessed in Ramadan, Ali Erbaş, the Head of Religious Affairs, wished it would be beneficial for the Teşvikiye Mosque to be reopened for worship. After the sermon, Erbaş led the Friday prayer in accordance with the social distance rules in the mosque and in the courtyard within the scope of the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) measures.

In addition to Minister Ersoy, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan, General Manager of Foundations Burhan Ersoy, Istanbul Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Coşkun Yılmaz, Istanbul Mufti Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Maşalı, Foundations Istanbul 1st Regional Manager Hayrullah Çelebi and Şişli District Governor Ali Fuat Türkel also took sides in prayer.
