Sleep attacks can lead to inefficiency in employees
Stating that during Ramadan, night sleep can be interrupted due to sahur, problems such as excessive daytime sleepiness may occur. Dr. Barış Metin said, “The most important reason for this situation is waking up at night due to sahur and inability to sleep due to this. Drowsiness, especially in the afternoons, during Ramadan is a familiar situation for fasting people. In those who have to work, these sleep attacks can cause inefficiency. Excessive sleep suppression also leads to attention and memory impairments, so unexpected errors and performance losses may occur. In such cases, if possible, a short nap in the afternoon is recommended. These candies should be done around 12:00 - 13:00 and should not exceed one hour. " said.

In order to keep our rhythm during Ramadan, it is important to have bedtime and departure routines and to follow these routines. Not waking up early in the morning and continuing to sleep until late is also an important mistake that disrupts our rhythm. If we sleep until noon, it will make it difficult for us to fall asleep at night. When we wake up in the morning, opening the windows and getting sunlight will make it easier for us to wake up from sleep. "
Fatty and fried foods should not be consumed
Stating that another situation that disrupts the sleep pattern is the disruption of sleep due to digestive activities as a result of eating and going to bed, Prof. Dr. Barış Metin said, “In order to prevent this situation, it should not be eaten heavily before going to bed and at sahur. Fatty and frying foods should not be consumed before going to sleep. Reflux problems may worsen, especially if people with reflux eat a meal before going to bed. Reflux is a condition that disrupts sleep. " said.

Stating that patients with chronic illnesses should pay particular attention to their sleep and wakefulness rhythm during Ramadan, Prof. Dr. Barış Metin said, “Those who use regular medication should consult their doctors whether they can fast or not, and if they can, at what time they should take their medication. Patients with blood pressure, vascular occlusion, stroke and epilepsy need to take regular medication and pay more attention to their sleep and wake cycles. " he spoke.
