Honda is one of Motul's longest-running and most valuable OEM partners, and the two brands have been collaborating in different fields for a long time. Motul provides technical support to Honda's HRC factory racing team in many different areas of motor sports.

This collaboration took on a new dimension with the Honda HRC Team's return to the Motul FIM World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK) as a full roster in early 2020. For the 2021 season, Team HRC and its two drivers, Alvaro Bautista and Leon Haslam, will feel Motul's support as Official Lubricants Partner.

Thanks to the trust and deep collaborative relationship that has developed over the years, Motul contributes to the performance, reliability and efficiency of HRC's competitive models in all racing conditions, including track, field and desert. Thanks to the strength of this partnership, many victories have been achieved in many different championships, the most important of which are HRC's first victory in 1989, and the most recent one is three Dakar Rally wins in 2021. In addition to the 2019 and 2020 championships won by Tim Gajser, who dominated the tracks, Team HRC also won many championships in MXGP.

Strength from technical partnership

Working with Motul, Team HRC continues the development of the CBR1000RR-RR FIREBLADE, with continuous feedback to engineers in Japan. Motul's international R&D department collaborates with HRC's engineers on a number of different projects, including the development of motor and high-tech synthetic oils. Within the scope of the projects being worked on, there is a specially designed Motul 300V Factory Line Racing Kit Oil 2376H 0W-30 fully synthetic engine oil to be used with Motul's Motocool Factory Line and MC CARE product range. The 0% synthetic oil with a viscosity class of 30W-100 provides a low traction coefficient thanks to the EsterCore technology, reducing friction and thus providing a significant gain in engine power.

“We are delighted to expand our excellent business relationship with Honda and HRC to include WorldSBK,” said Nicolas ZAUGG, Managing Director of Value at Motul. Thanks to the vision and technological partnership we have developed together, Motul's experimental products are tested under racing conditions before they are available for sale to a wider customer base. This is a complete win-win deal for us. "

Tetsuhiro Kuwata, HRC Director and Managing Director of Race Operations Management, said: “We are delighted to announce that Motul is the Official Sponsor of our team HRC at the highly competitive 2021 FIM Motul Superbike World Championship. In this way, we expand the relationship between our brands and further strengthen our very important project CBR1000RR-R FIREBLADE SP. Both Honda and Motul are two brands with a long and successful history in high-end motorsport competitions around the world. While both brands are constantly pursuing victory, developing our knowledge and technology together is a great gain. We bring joy and excitement to our fans all over the world, while delivering the best possible products to our customers. We are going through a period of great challenges, but we are ready to fight to achieve our common goals with determination, positivity and confidence. ”

Motul WSBK races will start with the race to be held on the Aragon track of Spain between 21-23 May.
