Ethiopian Tsegaye Getachew's score of 42 has been recorded as the best time ever run in our country. While this reveals the advantage of the track in Izmir, it has also heralded international records in the coming years.

The first international marathon in the history of Izmir, Marathon, the second of Izmir was run today, and Ethiopian Tsegaye Getachew, from Ethiopia, won the first place in the 42-kilometer-195-meter race with an amazing time of 2.09.35. Tsegaye Getachew males within the borders of Turkey has achieved the best marathon performance with this very condition until today. Thus, Marathonİzmir went down in history as the marathon in which the best degree was run in our country in its second year.

In 42 kilometers males, Ethiopian Balew Yihunie came second with 2.09.38 and Kenyan Edwin Kipngetich came third with 2.09.41. Yihunie and Kipngetich's degrees were also shown in the top three. Thus, it was revealed that Matonİzmir is a suitable race for the track advantage and international records in the upcoming period.

Victory in women of Kenyan Moges

In women, Kenyan Betelhem Moges became the first athlete to cross the finish line with 2.25.25, while Letebrhan Haylay Gebreslasea from the same country came in second with 2.26.21 and Judith Jeptum Korir from Kenya with 2.26.52. Dilan Atak, our female athlete, took the eighth place with 2.50.18.

The great success of Ufuk Arda from Izmir

Ufuk Arda from İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyespor ranked the best among Turkish athletes in men's 42 kilometers with 2.25.39 as 15th. Born in 1987, the athlete won a very important title by getting ahead of the strong rivals in the giant race that witnessed the great competition of Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes.

The start of the 42 km Marathon in İzmir was given by 311 athletes and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu over Şair Eşref Boulevard. Athletes made their first return from Bostanlı Pier, after going to Altınyol in front of Alsancak Station and following the beach. After this first turn, the runners followed the same track and took the second turn in IzmirMarina, this time over the Mustafa Kemal Beach Boulevard, and the second marathon of Izmir's history ended at Lausanne Square, where it started.

Familiar names have started

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Department President Hakan Orhunbilge, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality President Ersan Odaman, İzmir Youth and Sports Provincial Director Murat Eskici, İzmir Sports Clubs Association Foundation President Ali Erten, Göztepe Club Deputy Chairman Talat Papatya, Milliyet Aegean Regional Representative Engin Uğur Ağır and TSYD İzmir Branch President Bahri Okumuş also ran.

Big excitement in 10 kilometers

The start was shared between Kenyan Roncer Kipkorir and David Chemweno and Ethiopian Fateme Alem Regasa in the 10 km race, which was also given by Özüslu. Ranking in women was Kenyan Stela Rutto, Daisyh Jeptoo Identity and Burcu Subatan from our country. The 10-kilometer race was again given in front of İZFAŞ. Athletes turned from Köprü Tram Stop on Mustafa Kemal Beach Boulevard to the starting point and completed the 10 kilometers.
