The ministry shared the conditions on how to build new ships;

  • The new ship to be built will be one of the ship types used for commercial cargo transportation in the class of liquid bulk cargo, solid bulk cargo, container, general cargo or special purpose vessels and will be 1.000 GT or more.
  • The Incentive Compliance Certificate will be completed within 3 years at the latest from the date of issuance and registered by the beneficiary in the National Ship Registry or the Turkish International Ship Registry.
  • For at least five years following the registration of the newly built ship in the National Ship Registry or in the Turkish International Ship Registry; they will need to have class certificates issued by an organization authorized in accordance with the Regulation on Authorized Bodies for Ships issued.
  • The domestic contribution rate for the construction and construction of the new ship in Turkey will need to be at least 50 percent, including labor.
  • Within the scope of the incentive, the newly built ship will be operated under the Turkish Flag for at least 5 years from the date of registration in the National Ship Registry or the Turkish International Ship Registry, and within this period, an annotation that cannot be sold, transferred or rented for operation under another flag will be included.
