Cartoons awarded and deemed worthy to be exhibited at the International Cartoon Competition for Gender Equality organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality started to be exhibited at the Headquarters of the Republican People's Party after the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center.

62 works awarded and deemed worthy to be exhibited in the International Gender Equality Cartoon Contest organized by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has the title of “women-friendly city”, meet with art lovers in different cities of the country in order to increase social awareness. The exhibition, which was moved to Ankara after the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center, was hosted by the Headquarters of the Republican People's Party. It was reported that the cartoons, which showed great interest, will be exhibited publicly in Ankara Metropolitan, Çankaya and Yenimahalle municipalities.

Kılıçdaroğlu received an album as a gift

Participating in the opening of the exhibition, Nilay Kökkılınç, Head of Gender Equality Commission of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, and commission members visited Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, President of the Republican People's Party. The members presented the album in which the works deemed worthy to be exhibited in the contest were collected to Kılıçdaroğlu and conveyed their works on gender equality in İzmir.

The exhibition will also be carried abroad

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Gender Equality Commission President Atty. Nilay Kökkılınç stated that İzmir was the first city after the United Nations to organize a "Gender Equality"-themed cartoon competition and said that they wanted to raise social awareness by bringing the exhibition to all districts of İzmir, throughout the country and abroad. The albums and exhibitions where the works won by the Gender Equality International Cartoon Contest are collected attract great attention. We are very happy about that. The progress of society is not achieved by the domination of one gender over the other, but by both standing side by side with their heads held high.

Cartoons on ESHOT buses

62 illustrators from 549 countries participated in the Gender Equality International Cartoon Competition with a total of 672 works. In the competition where Seyran Caferli from Azerbaijan won the first prize; second prize from the Swiss Ernst Mattiello, had received the third prize from Turkey Halit Freed aytoslu. Luc Vernimmen from Belgium, Abdul Arif from Indonesia and Galym Boranbayev from Kazakhstan were awarded honorable mentions.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which holds the title of “Women Friendly City” within the framework of the United Nations Joint Program on the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights of Women and Girls, has decided to exhibit these cartoons in different channels. The works ranked in the top 100 in the competition were dressed on ESHOT buses accordingly. It was aimed to increase awareness on gender equality by means of buses serving in heavily used lines.
