Speaking to the press, Karaismailoğlu stated that large-type aircraft can use the airport thanks to the enlargement of the runway. Karaismailoğlu said, "The expansion of the runway and passenger capacity of our airport will provide convenience for busy flights from the region, especially to European countries."

So much so that while we were flying to 2003 countries and 50 destinations in 60, today we are reaching 127 destinations in 329 countries. While the number of countries with which we have signed an air transport agreement is 2003 in 81, today it is 173. In terms of total passenger numbers, Turkey was 2018th in the world and 2019th in Europe in 10 and 5, despite the pandemic, the International Airports Council in 2020. The air cargo sector has also become another area where we have increased our claim. Despite the 22 percent shrinkage in the air cargo industry with the impact of the global covid epidemic, we achieved a growth of around 1 percent thanks to the dynamic capacity solutions we implemented. These results are the result of our investments in airlines, our business experience and our efforts in international integration. We've stopped air travel across the country from being a luxury. Domestic flights, which were made to 2003 destinations with 2 hubs in 26, today take place from 7 centers to 56 destinations, ”he said.

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the number of active airports will increase to 59 with the completion of Çukurova, Tokat, Rize-Artvin airports, and also stated that the foundations of new terminal buildings have been laid and work has started at Kayseri and Malatya airports. Stating that the new terminal building of Gaziantep Airport will also be put into service in June, Karaismailoğlu said:

As a result of the economic growth in our region and the increasing demand of our people, renovation works were required. For this purpose, the runway enlargement works, which started in last April at our airport, have been completed. Within the scope of our works, the length of the runway of our airport was extended from 881 meters to 2 meters, and the runway width of 131 meters was increased to 30 meters. A safe area of ​​45 meters has been created on both sides of the runway. A safe flight area of ​​75 thousand 2 meters has been created together with the safety area. "
