The scope of the “Cif / Clean While Beautiful” campaign, organized in cooperation with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and Unilever company, is being expanded. A new project was launched at Zincirlikuyu Metrobus Station, one of the key points of the city's transportation line, after the "garbage-cap" application, which was deployed on the shores of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn and won the appreciation of the citizens. The last point was reached in the works carried out under the name of “Cif / Clean While Beautiful @ Zincirlikuyu”.

İMAMOĞLU AND YILMAZ ANSWERED RUTKAY'S QUESTIONS

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluattended the online introductory meeting for the project. At the virtual introductory meeting held with the presentation of the famous actress Doğa Rutkay Kamal, İmamoğlu and Unilever Vice President of Home Care Category Leyal Eskin Yılmaz answered questions from Kamal. Emphasizing that the benefits of their cooperation with Unilever and the Cif brand for Istanbul are very valuable, İmamoğlu said, “Istanbul is a city that has a very close relationship with the sea. But unfortunately, we have shortcomings in keeping our seas clean. Garbage catchers play an important role in both cleaning our seas and raising awareness.” Reminding that they aim to increase the number of active green spaces that the public benefit from, İmamoğlu said, "In this respect, we are very happy to bring our Urban Forests, Life Valleys and many new parks to the city."

"THERE WAS THE NEED FOR REGULATION IN THE CHAIN WELL"

Underlining that the face of pedestrian underpasses in Eminönü and Karaköy has changed within the scope of the cooperation with the company, İmamoğlu said, "I hope that we will always protect this area in such a clean, bright and spacious way with the care of our people." Drawing attention to the fact that Zincirlikuyu Metrobus Station also functions as an important center in the transportation line, İmamoğlu said, “There was a need for an arrangement in this region. Because our stop did not receive much sunlight due to its location. Darkness was a bit overwhelming, so to speak. Thanks to the work carried out with our guidance, it has now turned into a more spacious, comfortable and orderly public space. Again, thanks to the direction signs, the confusion that arose in crowded periods was largely eliminated ”.

"PARTICIPATION OF OUR CITIZENS IS VERY VALUABLE"

Expressing his gratitude to Unilever company and its employees for their cooperation and contribution in the city, İmamoğlu said:

“Cities are places that live almost 75-80 percent of the world's population. 21st century living space, cities. Therefore, we talk to the local administrators that we have interviewed that local governments should give the world a good century with a good model. Local democracy is a really important concept. Participation, transparency and common sense, the participation of our citizens and citizens in the protection of the environment are very valuable. Otherwise, it is not possible for any institution to overcome these problems alone. There are cities of 15-20 million in the world. Solving these problems, creating a sustainable urban life cannot be the job of a mayor or a group of municipal employees. Of course, we are the institution that will modernize and dominate the process. But cities where every citizen turns into a responsible individual can only be happy. We are determined to create this. We have to create a mass movement in cities where the society generates ideas, shares, and even strengthens the spirit of solidarity, if the city is under threat, if there is an element that creates a protection wall and paves the way for the city in a sense. "

"EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT OF A VOICE IN CITY MANAGEMENT"

Saying, “We want to make everyone feel that everybody living in this city has the right to speak in this city administration” said İmamoğlu, “We want everyone to participate in the design of this city and the maturation of the future, so that the ownership power of the society increases. For him; We are ready to listen, to produce together and to succeed together. The most concrete example of this is that I enjoy the pleasure and honor of his life with the beautiful applications we share today. In this sense, I invite all Istanbulites, all distinguished institutions and organizations of Istanbul to this process. Our 'Istanbul Is Yours' sentence is not just a sentence. Every individual living in Istanbul has a responsibility. "This work with Unilever made us feel that."

YILMAZ SHARED THE DETAILS ABOUT THE WORKS

Unilever Vice President of Home Care Category Yılmaz also presented a brief summary of the work they have done in cooperation with IMM. Stating that “Zincirlikuyu, which is the meeting point of the metrobus, metro and many key bus lines, is the heart of a large public transport network for Istanbul,” Yılmaz shared the following information about the works:

“We looked at what we can do about air quality in terms of the passengers waiting at the station, as there are cars as well as metrobuses. We made the walls look clean and well-groomed with a wall paint that cleans the air and itself. You know, Zincirlikuyu Metrobüs Station is a bit dark due to its location and architectural structure. It is a scientific fact that natural light makes people feel happier and more energetic. Based on this, we placed natural lighting in daylight tones. However, it is very crowded as it is the connection point of many public transportation lines. For this reason, we prepared direction signs that make pedestrian traffic more fluent. We placed plants to strengthen the clean view of the station and to add naturalness. We aimed to continue our recycling efforts that we started in the first phase of our project by placing waste sorting boxes. In addition, we display some of the wastes collected by Cif Çöpkapars from the Bosphorus in special boxes here. We have also created an opportunity to strengthen our message, awareness and awareness of the pollution in the Bosphorus. "
