The ban on Fishing Season 2020-2021 starts at 00.00 tonight. The new hunting season will begin on September 1, 2021.
Until this period, industrial boats will not be able to hunt. Fisheries, on the other hand, will spend this period with breeding and reproduction, while fishing boats will spend their maintenance, repair and deficiencies.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Bekir Pakdemirli made evaluations on the 2020-2021 hunting season.
Minister Pakdemirli announced that the hunting season was productive in terms of fishing such as anchovy, haddock, turbot, horse mackerel, sardines and sprat, and that the aquaculture industry exported more than $ 1 billion last year.
Pakdemirli stated that the fishing hunting season, which was opened with prayers on the night of August 31, 2020 with the honor of President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, as every year, was completed without any problems during the challenging Corona Virus pandemic process that affected the whole world.
Emphasizing that the season was profitable for our fishermen, Minister Pakdemirli;
“Considering the stocks of the coming years, despite the one-month hunting ban on anchovy in a certain region of the Black Sea, the season was fruitful in terms of catching fish such as anchovy, haddock, turbot, horse mackerel, sardine and sprat. Our country reached a record with 830 thousand tons of aquaculture production in the previous season. In 2020, although small size anchovies were not hunted, this figure reached around 800 thousand tons and we reached the second highest figure in our history ”.
23.6 MILLION LIRA PENALTIES APPLIED TO ILLEGAL HUNTING AND SALE
Stating that the Fisheries Law was amended in 2020, Minister Pakdemirli said, “With the amendment made in the law, the amount of penalties imposed on illegal hunting has been increased.
However, despite the increase in the amount of penalties and the number of inspections, there is a decrease in the total amount of penalties. This is an indication that the changes made in the Fisheries Law have been adopted and accepted by our fishermen ”.
Underlining that they carried out a total of 2020 inspections in 176 within the scope of preventing illegal fishing, Pakdemirli said, “In the inspections contributed by our Coast Guard Command, 176 tons of fishery products obtained by poaching were seized.
An administrative fine of 8 million 180 thousand TL was imposed on 23 thousand 653 people and workplaces engaged in illegal hunting and selling. In addition, 202 ships that did not have a fishing license and were not hunted in accordance with the rules were seized and their ownership transferred to the public ”.
13 MILLION 733 THOUSAND LIRA SUPPORT TO SMALL BOAT OWNER FISHERS
Our fishermen, who want to continue their economic activities in approximately 15 months from April 2021, 4,5, will be able to hunt in international waters outside our territorial waters by purse seine and trawl, provided that they obtain permission from our Ministry and comply with the determined rules.
Pakdemirli announced that they have provided 2020 million 2021 thousand TL support to 10 thousand 13 fishermen who own boats less than 132 meters in sea and inland waters during the 13-733 fishing season, and that the practice will continue to be expanded this year as well.
Minister Pakdemirli added that compliance with the prohibitions imposed during the breeding and growth period of fish is important for the continuation of sustainable fishing and the future of fishermen.
