Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) takes care of sick, injured and handicapped street animals; providing the world's largest modern and hygienic nursing homes. Vaccination, sterilization, examination, treatment, care and feeding of the animals are carried out in the company of expert veterinarians. Working 24 hours a day, seven days a week to take care of street creatures in the best conditions, IMM provided examination and treatment services to 2020 thousand 148 animals in 106. While 39 thousand 12 animals were recorded with microchip application, 21 thousand 36 animals were sterilized. A total of 44 thousand 138 animals were given protective vaccines.
440 ANIMALS REGULAR TO A HOT HOME
IMM Veterinary Services Directorate; In 2020, 440 animals had a warm home. 655 tons of dry food with high nutritional value were distributed at 432 different feeding points for street animals that had difficulty finding food in winter conditions. 4 thousand 729 students were trained in order to develop love and sensitivity towards stray animals in childhood.
ON-SITE TREATMENT SERVICE WITH MOBILE TOOLS
IMM Veterinary Services Directorate provides free service to stray animals in 6 different animal shelters throughout the city. The directorate, which has two of the world's largest abandoned animal shelters, has 87 personnel, 474 of which are veterinarians. To stray animals; Vaccination, sterilization, examination, treatment, microchip and ownership services are provided. Also; The hand of love reaches the streets with services such as emergency response, referral and on-site treatment with 1 Vetbus, 1 Vetkabin, 1 Motovet, 1 Farm Transport Vehicle, 34 (Minivan-Panelvan type) animal transport vehicles.
