In the operation carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce at a port in Kocaeli, approximately 300 thousand commercial goods worth 15 million lira were seized in a suspicious container.
As a result of data analysis conducted by the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement, a container brought from China to a port in Kocaeli was considered risky. Kocaeli Customs Enforcement, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate was instructed to check the conformity of the products in the said container to the declaration. The teams affiliated to the directorate went to the port where the suspect container was located and x-ray scanned the container.
As a result of the screening, it was decided to open and search the container, as the suspect density was found. In the searches carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams, 96 thousand pliers, 22 thousand cake molds, 81 thousand strainers and 95 thousand electric milk beaters, which were not included in the import declaration, were seized.
While it was determined that the customs value of the products seized as a result of the operation was 15 million Turkish Liras, an investigation was initiated against those responsible.
