SMA CAN AVOID THE INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF PATIENTS
With the protocol signed by Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş and Başkent University Rector Ali Haberal in February, DNA screening against SMA disease in Ankara will be possible to detect possible gene changes in advance and to prevent the birth of patients who have recently increased.
Within the scope of the protocol where the Metropolitan Municipality will cover the test fee for healthy future generations, Başkent University will also provide free genetic examination and genetic counseling to couples with deletion in the genes as a result of screening primarily for male couples.
