Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality continues its arrangement works in the Ashab-ı Kehf cave in the Duru district of Lice district.

Diyarbakır Governor Münir Karaloğlu gave instructions for landscaping during his visit to the cave where the Ashab-ı Kehf allegedly slept in Lice, where he went for the district assessment meeting.

The Parks and Gardens Department has prepared a project for the area to be brought into religious tourism, for citizens to easily go to the cave during their visits to the area, and to worship in the region.

Within the scope of the project, the foundation, columns and floors of the prayer room and ablution facility built on an area of ​​290 square meters were completed and the roof construction was started.

The teams laid stone stairs by evaluating the stones found in the area compatible with the nature of the region on the way to the cave. He erected a railing around the road leading to the Companions' Cave and posing a danger to the citizens.

The Metropolitan Municipality continues the restoration works inside the cave, which has a very important place in terms of faith tourism.

The Parks and Gardens Department will place wooden urban furniture around the Ashab-ı Kehf, which will not spoil the texture of the region, in order to create resting areas for the visitors.

The Directorate of Building Road Maintenance and Infrastructure will carry out asphalting works on the roads leading to the historical area.

Companions of the Cave

The story symbolizing the resurrection after death of the Ashab-i Al-Kahf, who escaped from the persecution of the king because they opposed paganism and slept in the cave with a dog for 309 years, is also included in Christian, Jewish and even Indian sources besides the Surah al-Kahf in the Quran. taking.

One of the 34 caves in the world, which is rumored to belong to the Ashab-i Al-Kahf, is located in the Duru district of Lice district.
