Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyeron the 23st anniversary of April 101, National Sovereignty and Children's Day, gave 101 bicycles to 101 children. Mayor Soyer said that their aim is to ensure that the bicycle is used not only as a sports vehicle but also as a means of transportation in the city.

Stating that they wanted to celebrate April 23 with much more enthusiasm, in a much more fun and enjoyable way, President Soyer stated that they came together with children under precaution despite the pandemic and said, “We want to spread the cycling culture more. We want more of our children to meet with bicycles. We want bicycles to be used not only as a sports vehicle but also as a means of transportation in the city. We will continue to support and encourage this.” Stating that the students met with the soil and the seeds in the Sustainable Living Park, which was also established, Soyer said: “Children not only plant, but also get to know insects, soil and seeds. I wish you to leave today's event with more love for nature. And let them lead a life in harmony with nature. The students had fun, got something, and learned at the same time.”

Students' joy of cycling

Mehmet Emre Koca, one of the students, stated that he had little knowledge about agriculture and said, “The information I learned about agriculture today has been very useful for me. I think I will be able to use this information in the future, ”he said. Arda Nikbay said that his bike was stolen and he was happy to have a new bike thanks to the Metropolitan Municipality.

Yeliz Şahin stated that she liked the event very much and said, “I normally love nature anyway. Today, we planted seeds and planted saplings. I learned how seeds should be planted. Was very nice. Also, I love cycling. "I am very glad that I have a bike."
