In the TÜRKSAT 6A Project, which was initiated with the aim of developing the first domestic and national communication satellite of our country and meeting the satellite needs of TÜRKSAT A.Ş. is serving as. In the project carried out in accordance with the TÜBİTAK KAMAG 1007 legislation, TÜRKSAT A.Ş. takes place.
Currently, the Thermal Structural Qualification Model (IYYM), which is under the responsibility of TAI, successfully completed in 2018. TUSAŞ, which completed the production, integration and testing activities of the structural, thermal control and chemical subsystems under its responsibility for the Engineering Model in 2019, has also come to an end in the production of the task description in the Flight Model (UM) to be sent to space. The Flight Model is aimed to be launched into space by the end of 2022.
With the completion of TÜRKSAT 6A, this project is of great importance as we will make a rapid entry among the 10 countries that can produce communication satellites in the world. Domestic communication satellite development, production capability and technologies kazanIt is aimed to develop and put into service a unique and national communication satellite with the project, which was started with the aim of producing the first national communication satellite with domestic means.
It is also among the aims of the project that the hardware and capabilities such as system analysis, power regulation, power distribution, flight computer, flight software, structural and thermal design, mechanical ground support equipment specific to communication satellites are designed and developed domestically by taking industrial and military standards as reference within the scope of the project.
Space Systems Integration and Test Center (USET)
In 2015, the first and only Space Systems Integration and Test Center of our country, which was put into service at the main campus of TAI, simulating the environmental conditions that all space systems with ground observation, communication and similar features will encounter in the period from launch to orbit. is being done.
The investment cost is determined by the Defense Industry Presidency (SSB), the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and TÜRKSAT A.Ş. In this center, which has approximately 9.500 m2 of closed area, 3.800 m2 of 100.000 class clean rooms and ground support equipment, which is covered by TAI and operated by TAI, assembly, integration and testing activities of more than 5 tons of satellites can be carried out simultaneously.
Activities within the scope of TÜRKSAT 1A project continue in the facility where the functional and components of the GÖKTÜRK-6 satellite were tested for resistance to environmental conditions in the launcher and orbit after the system level integration activities. The center is also used in projects run by other institutions and organizations. In this context, in the IMECE Earth Observation Satellite Project developed by TÜBİTAK UZAY, the thermal structural capability model assembly, integration and testing activities have been completed in the center, where many products based on high technology developed by many organizations such as ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, METEKSAN Defense and CTECH Information Technologies. tests are carried out and the technical information of the products with strategic technologies is verified with national means, without going abroad.
To serve Asia, Europe and Africa
The Thermal Structural Qualification Model (IYYM), which is the first of the three models to be developed within the scope of the project, was produced under the responsibility of TAI to verify the structural and thermal characteristics of the satellite, which was designed considering the space environmental conditions and environmental impacts during launch, and successfully tested and qualified.
The second model of the project, Engineering Model (MM), aims to verify functional competence in addition to the previous model by using partial functional equipment. The third model is defined as the Flight Model (UM) that will be launched into space.
With the TURKSAT 20A satellite with 6-channel Ku-band payload capacity, it is planned to provide data transfer services such as broadband internet, television broadcasting, point-to-point data transfer and GSM services to the continents of Asia, Europe and Africa.
