The completely renewed Toyota Yaris was named 2021 European Car of the Year. The fourth generation Yaris regained this award 59 years later with 266 points given by a jury of 21 automotive journalists in Europe.

The first-generation innovative Yaris, named Car of the Year in Europe, was the first model to bring this award to Toyota.

Receiving the jury's praise for its quiet drive, low-emission hybrid technology and affordable price, Yaris also revealed why more than 80 percent of its users prefer the hybrid power unit. Yaris also stood out with its design, dynamic performance and class-leading safety, demonstrating its “prestigious” concept.

The European Car of the Year jury also particularly appreciated the reignition of Toyota's passion for the fast hatchback market across Europe with the launch of the GR Yaris. The 2021 European Car of the Year award came just days after the New Yaris became the best-selling car in Europe for the first time. This was also clear evidence that European users agreed with the European Car of the Year jury.

With this success, Toyota has also achieved the title of European Car of the Year three times, becoming the Japanese brand that has been selected as the "Car of the Year" in Europe. While Yaris was awarded in 2000 and Prius in 2005, Yaris was awarded this prestigious award again in 2021.
