The 137th Plenary Meeting of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was held yesterday via video conference. IOC President Thomas Bach praised the preparatory work for China, which will host the Winter Olympics. President Bach emphasized that the IOC was dealing with the Tokyo Summer Olympics, which was postponed for a year in this extraordinary Olympic year, while also preparing for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games with the same determination and efforts.
Recalling that the one-year countdown to the Beijing Winter Olympics has begun, Bach pointed out that China's preparations are extremely successful, and that the construction of all relevant gyms has been completed, and that trial races are regularly held in sports facilities, especially in mountainous regions.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many challenges, but I can confidently say that. "Beijing Winter Olympic Committee has completed all its preparations to organize the best winter sports festival in the world," he said. Bach was re-elected president of the IOC in the elections held at the meeting to serve until 2025.
