Attracting attention with its advanced technology products in many sectors from home to space, Mitsubishi Electric met with young people at the Future of Data event organized by Student Career, a career-oriented content platform for students.

Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation Systems Product Management and Marketing Team Servo and Motion Control Product Team Leader Ali Can Kıbrıslı explained the usage areas of motion control systems and the future of this technology.

industrialists and major infrastructure investments and operations in the areas where the digital transformation partner for ambitious projects in Turkey Raises life Mitsubishi Electric has added a new one to the online event, attended. Participating in the Future of Data event organized by Student Career, a career-focused content platform for university and high school students, Mitsubishi Electric shared up-to-date information about the motion and control systems of the future with students.

"We are one of the rare companies that produce their own motion controller"

Sharing information about the historical development of motion and control technologies, Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation Systems Product Management and Marketing Team Servo and Motion Control Product Team Leader Ali Can Kıbrıslı made the following statement: “Motion control systems were developed with the idea of turning people's continuous work into automation with the industrial revolution. . Previously, things could be made more automated with mechanisms such as water-powered mill systems and steam-powered machines. With the discovery of electricity, AC and DC motors were developed and motion control became more systematic. One of the important points in motion and control technologies has been the presence of feedback in the motion. In addition to the availability of electrical feedback, the importance of PID systems is also of great importance in the development of this technology. The PID system was a concept known at the time of the industrial revolution, but it required a mathematical capacity to handle it. PID, which is a proportional-integral-differential controller control loop method whose English is Proportional Integral Derivative, is widely used in industrial control systems.

Saying that PID controllers are also included in PLC and servos today, Ali Can Kıbrıslı continued his words as follows: “Motion control systems do not consist of a single product. The software that controls these complements the servo motors that provide the motion, the drives that control the motor and the drive, and the motion controllers that control where multiple drives are going. It is very difficult to process motion control systems to all products and all areas. As Mitsubishi Electric, we are one of the rare companies that prefer to design and manufacture it in-house. "

Thanks to the controllers, it is possible to achieve smoother movements

Talking about the features of the motion controllers, the Cypriot; “Motion controllers provide great convenience in factories with their various features. One of the most important functions of the controller is to control the position and acceleration of multiple axes. Thanks to the controlled acceleration, a smoother movement can be obtained. This can prevent sudden take-offs and landings, preventing the load from falling. The digital twin of servo motors we use in Mitsubishi Electric drives creates a model for itself. Thanks to this digital twin, it pre-sets coefficients in position control, speed control, current control and flow loops. In this way, movement can be achieved in a much more sensitive and much more controlled cycle ”.

The motion control systems of the future are ready for Industry 4.0

Touching on the future of motion control systems at the last event, Ali Can Kıbrıslı completed his words as follows: “In the future, the communication of controllers with PLCs will be completely Ethernet-based. Since we foresee that the communication network CC-Link IE, developed by Mitsubishi Electric and put into use later, will be time-sensitive in the future, TSN (Time Sensitive Network), we have added the TSN function to the system. Thanks to TSN systems, the data and query load brought by the information system and the control of industrial systems will now be carried out on a single line. This will ensure that the system is flexible and ready for Industry 4.0. "
