Wu collected samples from the south pole of the Moon with Chang'e-6 as part of the fourth phase of China's Lunar exploration program, detailed investigation of the sources of the south pole of the Moon by Chang'e-7, and the research station of Chang'e-8. He informed that a total of three missions are planned, including testing key technologies in preparation for construction.

"If the lunar research station project is implemented successfully, China will come very close to realizing a manned landing on the Moon," said Wu. said. Wu noted that Chinese scientists and engineers are continuing their research on the Moon landing.

Pointing out that China is also considering landing on the south pole of the Moon, the official added that the construction of the research station could be progressed gradually with the successful landing.
