İzmir Metropolitan's Only Female Dipper Operator İlknur Özyalçın

İlknur Özyalçın is the only excavator operator at İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Science Works Branch Office. Expressing that she is happy because her work breaks the prejudices of society towards women, Özyalçın has been working for the Metropolitan Municipality for 6 months.

İlknur Özyalçın is one of the names who started to work in the Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of this policy. Özyalçın is the only excavator operator at İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Science Works Site Branch Directorate. Expressing that she is happy to break society's prejudices against women, Özyalçın explained the secret of her success as "loving your job".

"I believed I had to raise awareness"

For years, private sector employees in the sales and marketing departments in Özyalçın, the lack of female operators in Turkey before unemployment during the said notice. Özyalçın said, “I worked a lot in the private sector, but I did not like a desk job. I wanted to have a job that I want to do with pleasure. I love working in the field. I thought this job was for me. I also believed that I should raise an awareness. First, I received training on the job. After I got my license, I applied to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality for a job, ”he said.

"Everyone in the world can do any job"

Saying that those who saw him while working were astonished, Özyalçın said, “He who sees me turns and looks again. Some come and take pictures. Some say, 'Are you real?' says. When I work in city centers, tradesmen come and congratulate me. 'Is there anybody else besides you?' there are those who ask. I tell them that he is no other than me, but I believe that many women like me will do this job. Everyone in the world can do anything. "

Stating that women are already very strong beings by nature, Özyalçın said, “Just as women can become doctors, nurses, they can be operators if they can work in the textile industry. No job has difficulties. "The important thing is to do your job lovingly."

İlknur Özyalçın works as a "mini loader" and a bucket operator in the pavement and road infrastructure materials spread under the Branch Directorate of Science Works.
