IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, experienced the world-famous media artist Refik Anadol's new exhibition, “Machine Memories: Space”, which compelled the imagination, on site. Having received information about his work from Anadol, who continues his work at NASA, İmamoğlu expressed his feelings, “I want to come another day, sit alone and stay in it, record it if possible and keep it as a memory for the rest of my life. It was very impressive. It is a great honor for us to present such a genius from Istanbul to the world.” Stating that he will direct the foreign guests who come to visit him to the exhibition, İmamoğlu said, “Let them come, see this and be impressed. Let's make them feel what Istanbul is," he said.
The new exhibition of world-renowned media artist Refik Anadol, who continues his work at NASA, "Memories of the Machine: Space", will meet with art lovers between March 19 and April 25, 2021. The exhibition, which will be opened at Istanbul Pilevneli Gallery in Beyoğlu Dolapdere and will be organized with the support of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and Kültür A.Ş., can be visited free of charge. IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu and Culture Inc. General Manager Murat Abbas met with the artist Anadol before the preview to be held on March 18. Imamoglu and Abbas had an art feast of about 1 hour, accompanied by the information given by Anadol.
"I WILL EXPERIENCE ALONE"
Visiting the 4-storey exhibition where different new media visuals are exhibited, İmamoğlu expressed his feelings, “Extraordinary; it took me in. Everyone should see it. Maybe Refik has made us experience the art of the new century. It is a great immersive work. Understanding as a whole, getting here and experiencing this work… Sometimes people get lost in them. I even want to come another day, sit alone, stay in it, record it if possible, and keep it as a memory for a lifetime. It was very impressive. It was a great rehabilitation with music. A lot has come and gone from my mind, let me tell you clearly. Maybe if I was alone I could make my dreams bigger. I will experience it alone. Maybe I want to write my feelings like this after that. I want to share about what I felt and what it occupied in my memory. It is a great honor for us to present such a genius from Istanbul to the world ”. Expressing his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the exhibition, İmamoğlu said, “I want foreign guests who visit me to visit this place as well. Come, see it, be impressed. Let's make them feel what Istanbul is, ”he said.
FREE TO VISIT
"Machine Memories: Space" will take place on March 18 and can be visited by invitation, and can be watched free of charge at PİLEVNELİ Dolapdere between 19 March and 25 April 2021 every day, except Sunday, between 10.00-18.00. In case of changes in weekend restrictions due to Kovid-19 measures, the exhibition can be visited between 10.00-18.00 every day except Monday. "Machine Memories: Space" creates an alternative data universe where information sets are transformed into open-ended aesthetic possibilities through scientific initiatives and visual speculation using machine intelligence to explore the depths of the universe. The exhibition consists of two interrelated sections titled "Memories" and "Dreams". The first part of the exhibition, “Memories”, presents a series of dynamic data tables in which Refik Anadol collects raw visual data about space that has not yet been interpreted with the help of artificial intelligence and turns them into pigments. The second part, "Dreams", consists of three-dimensional data sculptures and a 15-minute installation of artificial intelligence cinema integrated with the space.
