Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which started important works from several different branches at the Acemler Crossroad, which is the heart of Bursa traffic, aims to complete most of the projects this year. Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that they planned to reduce the density by 27 percent with the investments to be made in different regions that affect the density at the intersection with Acemler Junction.
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its investments in many fields from health to education in order to make Bursa a more livable city, has accelerated its works in traffic and transportation, which is one of the most important issues of the city. Dividing a large part of its budget into these two issues, the Metropolitan Municipality brings radical solutions to the Acemler Crossroad, which surpasses even the July 15 Martyrs' Bridge with its vehicle circulation. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, together with Bursa Deputies Mustafa Esgin, Refik Özen, Atilla Ödünç, Zafer Işık, AK Party Provincial Chairman Davut Gürkan, together with party and municipal administrators, examined the ongoing works in the Acemler region on site. First of all, Mayor Alinur Aktaş and his entourage, who stopped by the construction site of Ali Osman Sönmez Hospital, received information about the works from the company managers. Later, Mayor Aktaş and his entourage, who moved to the 'Parking and Burulaş Transfer Station' area built next to the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Stadium, were informed about the project and works by the municipal administrators. Finally, Mayor Aktaş and his entourage, who examined the 'Hayran Caddesi and Oulu Street Tube Passage' works, received information about the final state of the project.
"We took institutional steps"
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that the state is carrying out revolutionary studies on many issues, the most important of which is the health field. Stating that investments in the field of health are continuing rapidly in Bursa, President Alinur Aktaş stated that the construction work has started for Ali Osman Sönmez Hospital, which has been inactive for different reasons, and that it will be put into service as of March 2023. Stating that hospitals are regions that live 365/7, 24 days a year, Mayor Aktaş said, “Of course, after the hospital is built, it is necessary to make arrangements related to that region. The new hospital will bring all the functions of the hospital in Çekirge to Acemler. It is necessary to think about the parking lot of the buses next to it. We are pulling the West Garage here with it. The fact that Bursaspor-Acemler Metro Station is here is also a great advantage for those who will use the hospital. Therefore, we tried to take institutional steps in terms of transportation to the hospital by public transportation. They will have the opportunity to reach the hospital by metro and buses from all over Bursa and be located right next to the hospital. The existing hospital has a parking lot, with more than 2 thousand closed and open areas. In this area we have created, we will create a parking lot for 274 vehicles as we have brought the mentioned functions here ”.
"We did not have a 1 square meter place"
Reminding that arrangements should also be made on the street, Mayor Aktaş said, “We did not have a 1 square meter place here. We are trying to deal with it by expropriating. Fan Caddesi will have two departures and two arrivals. On the other hand, our bridge construction behind the stadium is finished. Expropriation has been done. "The road to connect with Hayran Caddesi is opening," he said.
Surprise project for the stadium
Stating that the stadium is used once every two weeks, 18-20 times a year, Mayor Aktaş said that they will announce a surprise project in this regard soon, “We want to use the stadium 365 days a year. The stadium also has a car park with a capacity of 1100. There are also important works in the lower part of the stadium and other outbuildings. There will be important studies concerning people and young people in Bursa. "We want the same parking lots to take on a function that also serves here," he said.
"You shouldn't think alone"
Reminding that they had previously said that the Novice Crossroad was multifunctional, Mayor Aktaş said, “While around 15 thousand vehicles passed through the July 190 Martyrs Bridge, the Novices Crossroad was towing around 210.000 vehicles before the pandemic. Some days even reached 256 thousand. We are working in 6-7 phases at the Acemler Crossroad, which is at the heart of Bursa. Lane extensions are being made. We also have a tunnel pass with it. Our aim is to make this place more functional. Novices should not think of the Crossroad alone. Courthouse Junction, two C junctions around Botanik on the Near East Ring Road, the investments in Yunuseli are issues that affect and relieve the Acemler Junction. These are all investments that will be made and initiated within this year, ”he said.
27 percent relief
Explaining that the buildings work in synchronization with each other, Mayor Aktaş said that investments in health, education and other fields continue in order to make Bursa a more livable city. Stating that investments related to traffic and transportation mean much more, President Aktaş said, “We direct most of our investment budget to investments related to public transportation, traffic and transportation. Hopefully, we will see this very clearly over time. I wish your studies to be auspicious. Works will be completed in 3-4 months in the parking lot and tube passage area. There are side roads on the BUSKİ side. We think it ends by the end of the year. All works will be completed by the end of 2022. We will have finished most of it by the end of this year. "As a result of the counts in our simulations, a relief of about 27 percent will be achieved in traffic."
17 percent capacity increase
In the meantime, Gazali Şen, Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality, made a short presentation about the work done in the region. Şen stated that by transferring the traffic from Hayran Street to Oulu Avenue, not to the Acemler Junction, but to Oulu Street, the capacity increase of Acemler will be 17 percent, and emphasized that the tube crossing will be completed in 2-3 months. In the second stage, the vehicles coming from Ankara direction will be connected to Mudanya Junction without coming to the Acemler Junction by tube crossing and bypass, Dikkaldırım 'connection coming from Mudanya, direct connection from Dikkaldırım to Mudanya direction and connection of Dikkaldırım traffic to Soğukkuyu and 11 Eylül Boulevard. With the projects, the Acemler Intersection will be free from the loads to a great extent.
