While the excited wait for the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival 'TEKNOFEST 2021' continues, the teams that will participate in the Rocket Competition have also been determined. Record applications came to the Rocket Competition, which will take place in Salt Lake in Central Anatolia between September 1-12 this year.

While the preparations for TEKNOFEST 2021, the world's largest Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, continue at full speed, the pre-selection processes of the rockets that will compete in the festival have been completed. Applications for the Rocket Competition, organized within the scope of TEKNOFEST, to increase students' interest in space technologies and rocket science fields and to improve their skills in this field have ended. A record number of applications were made to the Rocket Competition, which will host students for the fourth time this year.

To be held between 1-12 September

A total of 544 teams applied for the TEKNOFEST Rocket Competition this year. While the highest number of applications were made with 296 teams in the "medium altitude" category, this was followed by the "high school" category with 223 applications. While 21 teams applied for the "high altitude" category, 4 teams made their applications to the "challenging task" category, which was opened for the first time this year. It will be held in the Lake. The winning teams will be announced at TEKNOFEST, which will be held at Istanbul Atatürk Airport between September 3-1.

Teams Will Compete in 4 Different Categories

There are 4 different categories in the competition, which is open to high school, associate degree, undergraduate and graduate students as a team. The competition consists of high school (5000 feet), medium altitude (10.000 feet), extreme duty (10.000 feet) and high altitude (20.000 feet) categories. The basis of the competition is that the rockets designed and produced by the teams reach the target altitude, separating the minimum 4 kg payload carried in the rocket from the rocket by various methods; It is aimed to save both rocket components and payload by lowering them to the ground with a parachute.

Preparations for Pre-Qualification Process Started

Within the scope of the competition, teams are expected to prepare 3 different reports: Preliminary Design Report, Critical Design Report and Shooting Preparation Report. The teams that are entitled to receive financial support after the pre-elimination, which will be realized according to the evaluation results of the Preliminary Design Reports, will be determined according to the results of the Critical Design Report. Teams, their designs; According to a rocket engine they will choose from the published Engine Catalogs.
