The first work of the tram line, which will be extended to Kuruçeşme by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, has started. The start of the drilling works for the two overpasses to be built within the scope of the project was given.

Drilling Works Done

After the tender for the tram line to be extended to Kuruçeşme by the Metropolitan Municipality, the first digging was hit. Within the scope of the project, drilling works for two overpasses to be built in front of Izmit High School and Acıbadem Hospital have started and Kuruçeşme D-100 intersection will be arranged first with overpasses. After the arrangement, a steel tramway bridge will be built, whose manufacturing work has been completed and will be passed over the D-100.

Objections Extended

The tender was held on 21 September 2020 for the tram line, which will be extended from Plajyolu to Kuruçeşme. Due to the bid below the limit value of the HLZ İnşaat and Gürtur İnşaat partnership, the tender was objected to the KİK. The appeal was considered and a new ruling was made at the beginning of February. This time, the tender was given to Sigma İnşaat and Emre Ray partnership. He did partnership work and hit the first dig with overpass drillings.

Two Overpasses To Be Made

Overpasses were one of the most curious issues in the tram line project to be built in the Kuruçeşme region. Within the scope of the project, the overpass in front of Izmit High School, which is frequently brought up with security problems, will be renewed first. Then a second overpass will be built in front of Acıbadem Hospital. After the overpasses, the direction of D-100 to Istanbul will be taken to the exit side of TEM Izmit toll booths and intersection arrangement will be made.

812 Meter Tram Line Will Be Made

After the Kuruçeşme Intersection arrangement, a 100-meter steel tram bridge will be built over the D-332 from the Plajyolu stop to the Kuruçeşme intersection. 812 station will be built for a total of 1 meters of double line. With the completion of the Kuruçeşme tram line, the length of the tram line will reach a double line of 10 thousand 212 meters. With the 3-kilometer single-line warehouse area, the single line length of the tram will reach 23,4 kilometers. With the Kuruçeşme station, the number of stops will reach 16 and 6 transformer centers will serve with the new construction.
