Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Road Construction Maintenance and Repair Department teams have reached the final stage in the Multi-Storey Intersection Project, which was initiated at the intersection of Yenişehir District Hüseyin Okan Merzeci Boulevard and 20th Street in order to relieve the density of urban traffic. The crossroad, where measures to facilitate the daily life of citizens with special needs, are also taken, it is expected to open in the coming days after the final touches.
The traffic problem, which turns into an ordeal for drivers and pedestrians in the morning and evening hours when the number of vehicles increases and traffic is the busiest, will be solved with the opening of the new intersection. The multi-storey intersection, which has been completed 7/24 by metropolitan teams and whose final touches have been made, will be inaugurated in the following days and will be put into service for Mersin residents.
20 thousand tons of hot asphalt is being poured
As a result of the feverish work of the teams affiliated to the Road Construction Maintenance and Repair Department, 20 thousand tons of hot asphalt is poured in the region.
Within the scope of the project, pavements suitable for the use of individuals with special needs are also made, a total of 8 thousand square meters of pavement work is carried out.
Project length 712 meters
The Multi-Storey Intersection Project, which has a total project length of 712 meters, was built as an underpass in the East-West direction. Within the scope of the project, the body excavation and bored pile fabrication and 78 bridge beams were installed. Within the scope of the project infrastructure works, 732 meters of Ø600 steel drinking water pipe, 638 meters of Ø500 steel drinking water pipe, 403 meters of Ø160 HDPE drinking water pipe, 358 meters of Ø600 HDPE (corrugated) sewer pipe, 220 meters of Ø400 straight rainwater pipes are laid, displacements were made.
