The volume of freight transported by train in China set a new record in January, when economic activity increased steadily again.

China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. According to data from (China Railway), a total of 324 million tons of freight was transported via railways this January. This represents an increase of 11,8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

The amount of coal transported to be allocated for electrical energy production reached 23 million tons, with an increase of 120 percent compared to last year. The volume of freight transported by rail is considered an important indicator of economic activities. Experts consider it as an indication that the Chinese economy has entered a faster recovery process this year. The Chinese economy showed a strong jump of 2,3 percent in the last quarter of last year. As a matter of fact, the Chinese economy stood out as the only economy that achieved positive growth in the world in 2020, when the pandemic was ravaged.
