Domestic and National 5G Communication Network Project will be completed in March 2021

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu, in his speech at the Communication Technologies Cluster Meeting held at the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), stated that he has undergone a historical transformation process in the information and communication sector infrastructure works and said, “The name of this change process is; It is the process of transition to local and national hardware and software. "HTK components are witnessing this history with their works."

"Domestic goods certified product investment amount increased to 662 million TL"

Reminding that they established HTK in 2017 in order to develop the domestic and national production ecosystem in the electronic communication sector, Minister Karaismailoğlu gave the following information about the developments in this process:

“In the 2015G tender in 4.5, we stipulated that in the authorization certificates we gave to the operators, we have to meet at least 10 percent of the hardware and software investments related to network and communication services from our SMEs established to develop products and systems. Again, in the same authorizations, in the first three years, we gradually recorded 30 percent, 40 percent and 45 percent turning towards products with domestic goods certificates.

In the period of 2015-2016, the ratio of locally certified hardware and software investments of mobile operators in the total investment was only 0,98 percent. In the fourth investment period, the localization rate in hardware and software exceeded 23 percent. In the fifth period, the investment amount of domestic goods certified product increased to 662 million TL. In other words, we recorded a 44 percent increase in localization compared to the previous period. Approximately 66 different products were obtained from 153 different manufacturers. We will further increase this product range in the upcoming period. "
